The objective of this area is to ensure that digital technologies deliver sustainable improvements in safety, productivity, and operational performance by addressing the interaction between people, technology, and organisation.

 

As AI, automation, and remote operations reshape industrial work systems, the role of humans changes fundamentally. This requires new design principles and organisational transformation.

Building on expertise in human factors and work system design, the focus is on designing and improving operations to enable effective human performance, robust human–AI collaboration, and the practical use of advanced decision support, such as digital twins.

 

The goal is to develop and demonstrate solutions that strengthen resilience, support decision-making, and enable safe and efficient operation in complex and evolving industrial environments.
