Models and Machine Learning for the Metallurgical Industry
Presented by Junyong You and Manuel Sparta, NORCE
Physics based modeling is a powerful tool when direct measurements are challenging due to uncertainties. Synthetic data, produced by these models, serves as a valuable resource for training both operators and machine learning algorithms. This integration opens up the possibility of devising new and optimized control strategies that can improve efficiency and performance.
Dr. Junyong You and Dr. Manuel Sparta are both Senior Researchers in the Technology Division of NORCE – Norwegian Research Centre.
Junyong has over 20 years of research experience in AI, data analysis, and various applications in fields such as energy, process, aquaculture, and social science. He has published over 80 papers in these areas.
Manuel has been focused on physics-based modeling for the process industry since 2016 and has undertaken tasks ranging from modeling electrical conditions in metallurgical reactors, to investigating biotech processes.
