On the application of recent advances of AI and ML in process industry

There will be a brief introduction to AI and ML, and the basic machine learning paradigms: reinforcement learning, supervised learning and unsupervised learning.  

We will look at some potential applications of recent advances of (deep) learning for process industry, reflect on the challenges related to uptake and implementation, and give an overview for when we believe these methods are well suited.

The presentation is based on material from the project Towards autonomy in the process industry (TAPI), which is aimed at moving Norwegian land-based process industries towards more autonomous operations by exploring the intersection between machine learning (ML) and more traditional model-based control methods.
